Ubisoft Unleashes 8 Facts About The PC Version Of The Division

8 facts about the PC version of The Division? Don’t mind if I do! Ubisoft has been spilling some serious beans about the PC version of Tom Clancy’s The Division, so let’s see if it’s all all it’s cracked up to be.

Fact 1: The Division is more than a port

Okay Ubisoft, you’re making all the right noises here. What else have you got to say for yourself? "We didn’t want to just port the console version for them, but to instead craft an experience that felt native to PC from the start.” That means a fully customisable user interface, and proper support for both mouse & keyboard and gamepad. Menu navigation will also be drastically different depending on which control method you opt for, so we won’t have to suffer a dumbed down mess of an interface like Fallout 4. Hopefully.

Fact 2: You can invite your Steam friends to play
Now we’re talking. One of the biggest downsides to having multiple clients is that you need to organise multiple friend lists. Obviously that’s easy here on GD, because you can see all your buddy’s various client usernames right there on their profile. To make things easier though, Ubisoft has been working with Valve, so you can now actually invite your Steam friends to play The Division via your Uplay Friends List. That’s a very interesting addition. Hopefully that’s a standard for all Uplay games going forward.

Fact 3: Multiplayer is PC versus PC only
This probably shouldn’t come as a surprise, but you’re only going to be able to play with other PC players. Mouse & keyboard users would absolutely murder gamepad players, so this seems fair enough.

Fact 4: Play The Division the way you want
Not really a fact, more of a statement if anything, but we’ll let it slide. This relates to using whichever control method you choose. If your control method is M&K or a standard gamepad that is; don’t go trying to use a Guitar Hero controller or a steering wheel.

Fact 5: The Division is not a game for mods
Ah, it was all going so well. Ubisoft and mod support go together like Aiden Pearce and charisma, so it’s no surprise The Division is no different. It’s because of the persistent online world apparently, so no dice there.

Fact 6: You can customise The Division’s UI
I’m sure we saw this covered in Fact 1? Ubisoft’s clearly running out of facts.

Fact 7: The Division will be getting a PC beta.
Pretty much common knowledge now, The Division will be getting a PC beta running from this Friday, January 29th, through until Sunday, 31st. Somewhat grimly you have to pay for a pre-order copy to guarantee access. Failing that, some people have had a bit of luck with Nvidia handing out keys. If you do miss out on the beta, rest safe in the knowledge that there will be plenty of impressions out there so you can make an educated judgement ahead of its March 8th launch.

Fact 8: The Division on PC supports a lot of hardware
Great, thanks, like every PC game. Really though, they mean it’s not too demanding so it should work on a wide range of systems. “We wanted to ensure the game ran well, no matter if you were on a laptop or a triple-screened monster computer, and we think we’ve done just that.” The key to this of course is to have a wide range of graphics settings, and from what we’ve seen, The Division has exactly that. The proof is in the pudding though, so we’ll see how you all handle it during next weekend’s beta.
