The Sims 4 Trailer Wears Its Heart On Its Sleeve

• Next time you’re indiscriminately drowning your sims in your swimming pool, it might do you well to remember that those little sims have feelings to. Or at least that’s what EA and Maxis would have us believe, and they’ve put out a new trailer for The Sims to prove it.

The Sims 4’s big new feature that Maxis is trumpeting is the thoughts and feelings of your little sims, who’ve been imbued with human-like characteristics. While all your sims previously seemed bothered about was wetting themselves, now they’ll be overjoyed, tempestuous, flustered, or even downright miserable. 

With the new power available at your fingertips your sims can now even think of underwear independently.

• Your sims had the basics of emotion down pat in The Sims 3, now their emotions will bleed through into all their actions in life. Partake in a game of chess while feeling angry and you’ll flip the board, get dumped and your sim will spend its time sobbing in the bath. Or you can take your shirt off while your gran watches, whatever floats your boat. 

These might seem extraneous but they can also provide permanent benefits. Working out while stressed can boost your sims’ fitness, while falling in love can boost a sims work productivity.
